Greetings friends of ECOtality!!!
We hope this newsletter finds you living green and in good health. This is the first newsletter for friends of ECOtality. Our goal is to send out one each month to update our ECOmmunity on recent ECOtality events, press releases and news coverage.
March and April have been very productive months for ECOtality. In March, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) announced significant breakthroughs in the design of the Hydratus that allow almost double the hydrogen output, while reducing overall system cost and size. Last week, we announced that GreenMountain Engineering, a leading product and manufacturing consulting firm specializing in clean energy technologies, has joined our technology team as consulting engineers on the Hydratus project. We have been receiving great feedback from our scientists regarding development of the Hydratus and our team is very excited about its ability to usher in the hydrogen economy!
The ECObus, a hydrogen-powered bus that is to be outfitted with our Hydratus technology, has also been very busy touring Arizona and educating the public about the benefits of hydrogen as an alternative fuel source. The ECObus was featured at the annual Arizona Hydrogen Conference, which is sponsored by the Valley of the Sun Clean Cities Coalition on April 5th; was visited by more than 700 students at the Cochise College Earth Day on April 18th; was the main attraction at the Peace on Earth Day celebration on April 20th; and was featured on ABC 15’s Clearing the Air, a televised town hall meeting on Earth Day that discussed Arizona’s air quality problems. In the upcoming weeks, the ECObus will be traveling to various schools and public events around Arizona, including an event for the Valley Forward Association, which brings business and civic leaders together to promote cooperative efforts to improve the environment and livability of Valley communities.
The ECOtality blog, which is busy informing and challenging the world on renewable energy solutions and clean-related topics, is quickly creating a strong community of people concerned about our environment and sustainable energy issues. The ECOtality blog has garnered tremendous online buzz, as our posts have been featured on The Drudge Report, Instapundit, Auto Blog Green and Green Options. The blog is growing into one of the top resources and aggregators for green news, environmental radio/podcasts and industry commentary. In fact, Brooke Lowry, ECOtality’s director of new media, was recently honored by the Phoenix Business Journal as a “Top Woman in Business for 2007” for her work with the ECOtality Web site and blog. Congratulations Brooke!!!
